PS5 Could See Multiplatform Release of Xbox Exclusives, Including Indiana Jones Game

In the console wars, there is always a heated debate about whether one gaming platform is necessarily better than the other, and fans defend their console of choice. But ultimately, it all boils down to games – exclusive games. With Microsoft’s Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo in the game, the debate continues. Now it seems that Microsoft of the three could take a radically different approach, perhaps to exit this battle altogether.

Unlike PlayStation and Nintendo, Xbox could aim to make its games cross-platform, meaning that Xbox games could one day be released on competing platforms such as the PS5 and Nintendo Switch. And this can start with some recently released and announced games like Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

As reported by The Verge, Microsoft is considering multi-platform support for some of its games. “A new cross-platform approach to select Xbox games is emerging within Microsoft,” the publication said.

For example, Hi-Fi Rush may be announced for release on Switch and PS5 in the coming weeks, while Indiana Jones and the Great Circle may remain on Xbox and PC for just a few months, but will eventually be released on PS5, the company’s biggest competitor.

However, all this can also change, as the plans are not set in stone yet. Additionally, with the recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there may have been discussions within the company about which titles to bring to competing platforms and which to leave out.

That being said, it’s interesting to see Xbox go down this path and essentially take on the role of a major publisher. Additionally, it will be fun to see the potential impact of this change on the long-term landscape of Xbox gaming hardware.
